The lively figures of speech in Herrickââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Delight in Disorderâ⬠show his sensual delight in the little things in life. The oxymorons, animations, images, and paradox in this poem display the authorââ¬â¢s enjoyment of true uniqueness. The animations in ââ¬Å"Delight in Disorderâ⬠show how the speaker sees the clothing as having a will of itââ¬â¢s own that makes the outfit more ââ¬Å"bewitch[ing]â⬠(13). For example, the author cites a ââ¬Å"tempestuous petticoatâ⬠and a ââ¬Å"careless shoestringâ⬠as things that cause the womanââ¬â¢s dress to be unique and intriguing (9, 10).
